Tuesday, Feb 11, 2024: A Look Into Diving and Videography in British Columbia

Come out Tuesday February 11 at 7pm via zoom to hear Kolin Hansen discuss diving and videography along the coast of British Columbia. He’ll cover the challenges of diving in cold, dark, and green waters, such as managing low temperatures, limited visibility, and strong currents. Additionally, he’ll share tips and techniques for capturing compelling imagery in these conditions, including camera settings, lighting, and strategies for framing shots in challenging environments. This presentation will provide valuable insights for divers and videographers looking to make the most of BC’s underwater world.

Kolin Hansen is the creator of Getting Salty. His mission is to raise awareness of the incredible ocean life in the Pacific Northwest through photography, videography, art, and design. As Kolin says: “As a technical diver with a deep passion for underwater film and photography, I am driven to document the unique and diverse marine life that calls Vancouver Island’s waters home. From the vibrant kelp forests to the mysterious depths, I am dedicated to showcasing the beauty and importance of our ocean ecosystems. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to appreciate and protect the rich biodiversity that thrives beneath the surface.”
